Dear Mr. Kiran Dongol

Today Japan Chapter remitted the net amount equivalent to Japanese Yen 100,000 to your designated bank account with your designated remarks, namely"bi-relation support to AITAA Nepal Chapter". I well understand that this amount means little when the magnitude of damage in your country is considered and our action may not be timely. However, I sincerely hope that our remittance may be used even as part of your efforts to overcome the present difficulties.

Best regards,
Shimura.

Nepal earthquake, magnitude 7.3, strikes near Everest

A major earthquake has struck eastern Nepal, two weeks after more than 8,000 people were killed in a devastating quake.

The latest earthquake hit near the town of Namche Bazar, near Mount Everest.

The US Geological Survey said it had a magnitude of 7.3. An earthquake on 25 April, centred in western Nepal, had a magnitude of 7.8.

The latest tremor was felt as far away as the Indian capital Delhi, as well as Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

Strong tremors were felt in the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, which was badly damaged in last month's earthquake.

The BBC's Yogita Limaye, who is with an aid convoy in Nepal, says the latest quake went on "for a pretty long time."

She told BBC World News: "People have been terrified."

"This is a really big one," Prakash Shilpakar, the owner of a craft shop in Kathmandu, told the Reuters news agency.

People rushed from buildings in Kathmandu as the quake struck at 12:35 local time (07:50 GMT).

Dear Khun Thanin,

We had a special meeting last May 7 to facilitate our quick response to the call for donation to our colleagues in Nepal through the AITAA Nepal Chapter. We have approved the immediate transfer of USD1,000 to their account following Kiran's email to AITAA Alumni Chapters.

This morning, the amount was transferred to their account (Agricultural Development Bank, Ltd.) and am attaching the remittance form to this email. We will continue raising funds for our friends in Nepal and we hope to make additional donations in the coming weeks/months.
JP has already informed Kiran on the Board approval last May 7 and the latter already made acknowledgements. The amount should reach them in a day or two.
Warm regards from Manila.

Dear AITAA Nepal Chapter c/o Kiran,

The Philippine Chapter would like to express its sympathy and respond positively to your call for financial support for the victims of the recent earthquake. Our new Board, in its meeting last 7 May, decided to set aside USD 1,000 for transfer to your chapter's bank account this coming week.

Our country is very familiar with natural calamities and have likewise benefitted from the generosity and solidarity of AITAA and the AIT Community in general -- so we truly understand your situation. We hope and pray for your early recovery and return to normalcy of your country. Keep the faith as we know that your great people and country will endure this challenge.

Dear Kiran,

It has been a long weekend in Thailand from the 1st to the 5th inst thus I have just made the fund transfer today. I have made my personal contribution of 20,000 Baht in addition to AITAA HQ’s fund of 100,000 Baht. The total amount of 120,000 Baht after deducting the bank fee and after converting to US dollar is 3,579.56 USD. Please see the copy of transfer advice as attached. The bank tells me that the fund should arrive at the receiving bank on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. The amount will have to be deducted with the fee of the receiving bank.

I urge AITAA National Chapters and all alumni to help making your contributions directly to AITAA Nepal for the good cause as explained below. Thanks to AITAA Thailand, Friends of AIT Foundation, and AIT, who have made contributions to help Nepal in this difficult time.

Thank you khun Thanin for arranging such a generous support for EQ relief activities.

The demand of Tripal, Mattress and light blankets r very high.
Planning to spent Some more money on that activity.

and all our friends in Nepal

Dear Kiran and our Nepalese Friends,

I hope this message finds you well.

Before writing this, I have been closely following the news of the earthquake that hit Nepal midday yesterday with great concern. Although India also suffers a notable number of deaths and the quake was also felt in China, Bangladesh, and Bhutan, the epicentre of the earthquake of magnitude 7.8 on the Richter scale was in the middle of Nepal and I have seen pictures and reports of big damages all over Nepal. Late last night the death toll reported was more than 1,400 and now it is more than 1,910. Many thousands are injured. Nearly 5 million are affected, suffering from lack of good shelters, worsened by the rain and cold weather. Many strong aftershocks followed. Buildings are damaged, including many important historical places and World Heritage sites.

We at AITAA Headquarters are feeling sympathetic for Nepal as a nation. Our prayers and thoughts are with our friends in Nepal and the other victims of this major disaster. We wish to hereby extend our moral support to all of you and the Nepal people at large.

We will also send our financial assistance to you to help relieve the woes like we did for the cases of Japan earthquake and tsunami early 2011 and the Philippines supertyphoon late 2013.

We will keep in touch.

Sincerely,
Thanin Bumrungsap
AITAA President
